French President visits scene of knife attack

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday visited Annecy – the Alpine city where a knife attack took place on Thursday.

Earlier on Friday, the French leader met victims of the attack who are being treated at a hospital in Grenoble.

All four children who were injured have now been operated on and are stable, French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne said.

Two adults were also injured in the attack in a park.

The attacker, who was shot and then arrested, is a thirty-one-year-old Syrian man with refugee status in Sweden.

There is no evidence of a terrorist motivation, French authorities have said.
