SENATE PRESIDENCY: Nigerian group wants competent, effective leadership.

The leadership of a Nigerian group known as the Natives has called for the election of a competent and effective leader as Senate President of the 10th National Assembly.

Senators in Africa’s largest democracy will vote to elect one of them to lead the Senate for the next four years. The election takes place on June 13th.

The group, in a world press conference, aligned with Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu’s vision for legislative excellence and supported the candidacy of a former governor of Akwa Ibom State.

It emphasized the need for capacity, credentials, and competence to be discussed on the front burner as Nigeria moves towards turning its fortunes around.

They also called for the promotion of balance, inclusion, national unity, love for country, and the creation of harmony that would endear the parliament to the Nigerian people.
