Nigerian Authorities demolish popular shopping complex in Capital, Abuja.

Federal Authorities in Nigeria’s Capital City, Abuja on Saturday demolished a Shopping complex considered to be the city’s biggest printing hub.

The complex has existed for thirty years.

The administration had over a month ago directed the traders to vacate the complex and relocate to a temporary site to allow for demolition and reconstruction of the market.

The administration said the structure was long overdue for a reconstruction into a modern Shopping Complex.

A Deputy Director, Monitoring and Inspection, Department of Development Control, Hassan Ogbole said the structures were defective and there was need to upgrade them to meet global business standard.

He also said the traders and other occupants of the Complex have been relocated to a temporary location.
