The National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau, Vincent Olatunji has said the Bureau intends to build the capacity of two hundred and fifty thousand Nigerians over the next five years.

Mr. Olatunji said this on Friday in Abuja at the start of a one day training for Information Technology reporters.
According to him, fifty thousand Nigerians will be trained every year.
The NDPB Boss described the media as a critical stakeholder in its bid to create more awareness around data protection.
Mr. Olatunji told participants that there exists a huge manpower gap in the data protection ecosystem.
He said around five hundred thousand data controllers and processors exist in Nigeria but added that only about ten thousand Data Protection Officers exist.
He encouraged journalists to consider having a career in data protection in addition to their current jobs.
